Many DSG girls start their school career at St Andrew’s Preparatory School down the road, which is co-educational from Grade 1 to Grade 3. Thereafter they move to the DSG Junior School on the larger DSG campus. The friendships they form with the Preppie boys are still evident when they interact with the boys at socials, combined outdoor education outings and outreach projects.
The DSG shares a common boundary with St Andrew’s College (founded in 1855) and the girls and boys share daily social and academic interaction.
From Grade 10 onwards, all academic classes are co-instructional across the two campuses. This system offers the girls the benefits of a co- educational academic environment. However, the DSG remains an autonomous entity with its own Principal, Council and staff and a girls’ school at the core.
The synergy between the DSG and St Andrew’s College has facilitated many combined enterprises such as Derby days, music tours and the sharing of facilities in the D R Wynne Music School, Arthur Cotton Design and Technology Centre and the Webster Astroturf for hockey.
