EN AVANT
Outdoor Education

Being in a remarkably rich cultural, historical and natural environment, the opportunities to take our classrooms outdoors are endless. From daytrips to three weeks outdoors – the possibilities are there and are utilised to the full.

All classes from Grade 4 to Grade 11 attend at least one environmental education excursion a year, specific to the curriculum of the particular age group. The girls are taken out of their comfort zones and often have to deal with completely new and unusual experiences, but in the end fun, friendship and teamwork carry them through.

In Grade 10, the year when girls start co-instruction with the boys from St Andrew’s College, they join the boys on a 3-week journey, walking, cycling and canoeing from the source to the mouth of the Fish River. This Fish River Journey is an epic physical and emotional journey, which never fails to inspire our girls.
